President Obama nominated Judge Merrick B. Garland to the U.S. Supreme Court to fill the seat of the late Justice Antonin Scalia. Garland, a judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, has been previously confirmed with bipartisan support. Obama selected the 63-year-old Garland over two younger and more diverse choices 49-year-old Sri Srinivasan or 48-year-old Paul Watford.
