Is Serena Williams America’s greatest athlete?

Serena Williams has done it - by winning her match against Spain’s Garbine Muguruza, she has captured her sixth Wimbledon title. For the second time in her career, she has won four straight major titles, a feat dubbed the “Serena Slam” twelve years ago when she first managed to earn the achievement. Her victory also made this the 21st Grand Slam title of her career. If she wins the US Open next month, she will also be adding the calendar Grand Slam title to her list of achievements, something that has not been done since 1998. Do you think that this incredible victory has shown Serena Williams as America’s greatest athlete?

Many celebrities have gone onto social media to celebrate Williams' incredible achievement:

Should Wimbledon give women equal time on the show courts as men?

Both Caroline Wozniacki and Serena Williams have commented that Wimbledon has not been giving equal time to women and men on the show courts. “The women really haven’t gotten the opportunity here to play on the big courts,” said Wozniacki. “You only get one woman’s match on Court 1 and Centre Court. Most of last week it was only one woman’s match on Court 2 as well.” Williams feels the same way, saying, “We’re still fighting on that,” referring to getting equal time. “We made progress making sure that women have more featured matches. It’s just a little bit at a time. Hopefully we’ll get to the point where we’ll have even more featured matches.” Wimbledon usually has one women’s match and two men’s matches on the two biggest show courts. Do you agree with Wozniacki and Williams that Wimbledon should give women equal time on the show courts as men?
